You Don’t Always Need an Office. You Need Someone You Can Trust.
Sometimes you do not need to establish a local office immediately. You simply need someone you can trust to visit a location, attend a meeting, follow up with a contact or check what is happening on the ground.
I provide practical local representation and ground support for businesses, investors, researchers and organisations that need someone in Uganda to act on their behalf.
The assignment can be as simple as attending one meeting or checking one supplier. It can also develop into ongoing support where you need a reliable local contact over a longer period.
How I Can Help
Visit a Location on Your Behalf
If you cannot travel to Uganda yourself, I can visit a location, speak with relevant people and report back on what I find.
This can be useful when you need basic information from the ground before deciding whether to travel or take the next step.
Attend a Local Meeting
I can attend an initial meeting on your behalf where you are unable to be present yourself.
Before the meeting, we agree on what you need discussed or clarified. Afterward, I provide you with a clear update on what was discussed and any relevant next steps.
Meet a Local Contact
Sometimes the first step is simply putting a face to a name.
I can meet a supplier, business contact, organisation or other local stakeholder on your behalf, introduce your interests and gather the information you need.
Collect and Check Information
If someone has provided you with information about a business, location, project or opportunity, I can help gather additional information from the ground.
This may include speaking with relevant people, checking basic details or visiting a location where appropriate.
These checks are intended to support your understanding of the situation. They do not replace professional legal, financial, technical or regulatory due diligence.
Coordinate a Site Visit
I can help organise access to a location, coordinate with local contacts and make sure the practical arrangements are in place for a site visit.
Where appropriate, I can also accompany you or visit the location on your behalf.
Follow Up With Suppliers and Contacts
Sometimes a business process simply needs someone locally to keep following up.
I can communicate with suppliers, business contacts and other local parties, provide updates and help keep agreed activities moving.
Communicate With Local Stakeholders
I can communicate with relevant local stakeholders on your behalf where the assignment requires local engagement.
This may include businesses, suppliers, community contacts, organisations and other parties relevant to your work.
Help Organise Meetings
If you need to meet a local business, supplier, organisation or potential partner, I can help with the initial communication and meeting arrangements.
The aim is to make it easier for you to connect with the right people.
Give You Honest Feedback From the Ground
One of the most useful things about having someone on the ground is getting information that goes beyond what you may hear through email or phone calls.
If something looks different from what was presented to you, I will tell you.
The purpose is not to make decisions for you, but to give you practical local information so that you can make your own decisions.
How It Works
The scope is agreed with you before the work begins.
It can be a single task, such as attending one meeting or checking one supplier. Alternatively, it can be an ongoing arrangement where I provide local support over a longer period.
1. Define the Scope Together
You explain what you need done, where it needs to happen and what information or outcome you are looking for.
We then agree on the specific activities, timeframe and expected reporting.
2. I Act on the Ground
I carry out the agreed activities.
Depending on the assignment, this may involve meetings, site visits, supplier follow-ups, information gathering, introductions or communication with local stakeholders.
3. I Report Back Clearly
You receive a clear update on what was done, who was contacted and what was found.
Where there are issues, delays or things that require your attention, I will communicate them rather than leave you guessing.
4. You Decide What Comes Next
You remain in control of the next step.
Based on the information provided, you can decide whether to proceed, ask for further checks, arrange a visit yourself or end the assignment.
What Local Representation Can Look Like
The work can take many forms depending on what you need.
For example:
- Checking whether a potential supplier is operating from the stated location
- Attending an introductory business meeting
- Meeting a potential local partner
- Following up on a delayed supplier response
- Visiting a project or business location
- Gathering information about a local opportunity
- Coordinating access to a site
- Accompanying a visitor during local meetings
- Following up with local stakeholders
- Supporting communication between an overseas organisation and local contacts
- Providing regular updates on an ongoing local activity
Who This Is For
This service can be useful for:
- Businesses exploring Uganda
- International companies without a local office
- Investors conducting initial enquiries
- Buyers looking for local suppliers
- Researchers and research organisations
- NGOs and development organisations
- Consultants working on assignments in Uganda
- Media and documentary teams
- Organisations planning site visits
- Individuals who need reliable local assistance
You do not have to be a large organisation. Sometimes a small business or individual simply needs someone dependable to handle one local task.
Why Have Someone on the Ground?
Working from outside Uganda can make simple activities more difficult.
A meeting may need to be arranged. A supplier may stop responding. A location may be difficult to reach. Information may need to be checked in person.
Having someone locally can make it easier to deal with these situations.
My experience in field research, community engagement, business connections, sourcing and field operations allows me to work across different types of assignments.
I also understand that representation requires trust. For that reason, I aim to communicate clearly and report what I actually find rather than simply telling you what you may want to hear.
Uganda and East Africa
Uganda is my main base, and this is where I can provide the most direct local support.
For assignments involving other parts of East Africa, I can work with suitable local contacts and professionals where appropriate.
The exact level of support will depend on the location, nature of the assignment and what you need represented.
Single Assignment or Ongoing Support
Not every situation requires a long-term arrangement.
You may only need someone to:
- Attend one meeting
- Visit one location
- Check one supplier
- Follow up on one issue
- Arrange one introduction
- Accompany a visiting team
In other cases, you may need someone who can provide regular local support over several weeks or months.
We can agree on the scope based on what you actually need.
Important Note
Local representation is intended to provide practical support, communication and information from the ground.
It does not replace legal representation, professional financial advice, technical inspections, regulatory approvals or other specialist services.
Where an assignment requires specialist expertise or formal authority, I can help coordinate with the appropriate professionals or institutions.

Let’s Work Together
If you need someone on the ground in Uganda to represent your interests, start by telling me what you need done.
Explain the location, the people or organisation involved, what you want checked or followed up, and your expected timeframe.
From there, we can discuss the scope and agree on the most practical way to support you.
