For Business

Coming to Africa to Do Business

If that’s you, I’m the person you call.

Doing business in a new country is not always as simple as finding information online.

You may need to find the right company, identify a supplier, understand a local market, arrange a meeting, visit a site, or follow up with someone. In many cases, you also need someone who understands what is happening on the ground.

That is where I come in.

I am based in Uganda and work across different parts of the country and, where appropriate, the wider East African region. Through The Africa Insider, I provide practical local support to businesses that want to explore opportunities, build relationships, source products, or have someone on the ground to help them move things forward.

Who I Work With

I work with different types of businesses and organisations, including:

  • Companies exploring Uganda for the first time
  • SMEs looking for local business opportunities
  • Manufacturers looking for suppliers, distributors or raw materials
  • Importers and exporters
  • Trading companies
  • Retailers and buyers
  • Companies looking for agricultural products and commodities
  • Businesses looking for local partners
  • Consulting and advisory firms that need information from the ground
  • Family offices and private investors exploring opportunities
  • African businesses looking to build connections across borders
  • International companies that do not yet have a local office in Uganda

You do not necessarily need to have a large operation or a big budget.

Sometimes, you simply need the right person to make a few calls, visit a place, meet someone, gather information and report back.

How I Can Help Your Business

My role depends on what you are trying to achieve. For example, I can help with:

Finding Local Business Contacts

I can help identify businesses, suppliers, buyers, organisations and other relevant contacts based on your requirements.

Sourcing

If you are looking for products, agricultural commodities, suppliers or other business opportunities in Uganda, I can help with initial enquiries, local contacts, information gathering and introductions.

Local Business Visits

If you need someone to visit a company, business premises, project or location, I can help gather information from the ground and report back to you.

Meetings and Introductions

I can help arrange initial contact and meetings with relevant businesses, organisations and individuals.

Local Representation

If you are outside Uganda and need someone to follow up on something locally, I can provide practical representation within an agreed scope.

Market and Ground Information

Sometimes what you need is not a formal market research report. Instead, you may simply need to know what is happening on the ground, what local businesses are saying, who is active in a particular area, or whether an opportunity is worth exploring further.

That is where local presence can make a difference.

You May Already Have the Information. You May Just Need Someone on the Ground.

You can find a lot about Uganda online.

You can search for companies, read reports, look at market information and contact businesses by email. However, there are situations where you need someone who can actually make the local call, visit the location, speak to people, attend the meeting and give you a practical update.

For example, you may be considering buying an agricultural product from Uganda.

In that case, I can help identify potential suppliers, make initial enquiries, gather basic information, arrange communication and, where appropriate, visit or coordinate a local visit.

You then have the information you need to decide what to do next.

Uganda First, East Africa Where Appropriate

My main base is Uganda, and this is where I have the strongest local experience and network.

However, business activities do not always stop at one border.

Depending on the assignment, I can also help with connections and practical support in other parts of East Africa through appropriate local contacts and partners.

The exact scope depends on the location and what you need.

This Is Not a Promise of a Business Deal

My role is to help you understand and navigate the local side of your assignment.

I can help with contacts, initial enquiries, introductions, information gathering, local visits and follow-up.

At the same time, I cannot guarantee that a supplier will be suitable, that a business relationship will succeed, or that a transaction will take place.

For significant business decisions, you should carry out your own legal, financial, technical, regulatory and commercial due diligence.

My job is to help you get closer to the ground so you can make better informed decisions.

Start With What You Need

You do not need to have everything figured out before contacting me.

Tell me what you are looking for, where you are coming from, what you are trying to achieve and where you are in the process.

From there, we can look at what kind of local support makes sense.
